NOTABLE ROLE: Billy Baker on the CW’s “All American” and Benny in the original Broadway cast of RENT

NAACP Image Award winner Taye Diggs stars as coach Billy Baker in the CW show “All American,” a sports drama inspired by pro football player Spencer Paysinger. Diggs has enjoyed a varied career in film and television and on Broadway. He made his Broadway debut in the 1994 revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. Taye earned his first leading role as Benny in the original company of Jonathan Larson’s groundbreaking musical, RENT. He later went on to star in Chicago, Wicked, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Taye has appeared on many popular television series, including “Ally McBeal,” “Murder in the First,” “Private Practice,” and in acclaimed films, such as How Stella Got Her Groove Back, The Best Man and its sequel The Best Man Holiday, and Chicago. Taye is the director and choreographer of the Broadway-bound new play, Thoughts of a Colored Man on a Day When the Sun Set Too Early.
